ROLE OF THE SCHOOL
COMMITTEE
|
Communication is the centerpiece of effective leadership.
This means that school committee members, administrators,
and staff must communicate openly and work collaboratively
with each other and with the wider community to achieve our
common goal. Divisive politics, micromanaging and personality
conflicts have no place in an effective school system.
Discussions should focus on issues and not personalities.
Respect and courtesy in voicing opinions and constructive
dialogue to resolve differences will get the job done. And,
most importantly at this time, all the members of the School
Committee must remain focused on the district goals and the
important work of implementing the Innovation Agenda.
I will continue to listen with an open mind, do my best to
understand the issues, and respond to the diverse families
of Cambridge. As a former public school teacher, I am a vigorous
ambassador for public education. As a parent of two children,
I am sensitive to the diverse needs of all learners and know
how to work within the system for the community. As a member
of the Cambridge School Committee, I know how to work for
the system that serves the community.
